Share a video with everything you wrote about it

A VidNotes Pack is one .vidnotes file holding videos and all the work attached to them — notes, transcripts, briefs, chats and captures. Send it to a classmate, hand a playlist to your team, or carry your library to another Mac.

1
Export a pack

Open the Library, then either:

  • right-click a playlist or a video → Export as VidNotes Pack…, or
  • click Export… in the Library toolbar and tick the videos you want.
2
Choose where to save it
Save the .vidnotes file anywhere — Desktop, a shared drive, AirDrop, email. A pack keeps the playlist’s name, so it arrives as the same playlist on the other side.
3
Open it on any Mac
Double-click the .vidnotes file, or use File → Open VidNotes Pack… (⇧⌘O). The videos are added to the Library with their notes and transcripts. Anything already there is left as it is, so opening the same pack twice is safe.
4
Re-link local video files
YouTube videos play straight away. Local video files aren’t copied into packs (they’re often gigabytes) — the first time you open one, VidNotes asks you to pick the file on that Mac.
Pro session recordings: when a pack contains recordings from Session Mode, the save dialog offers Include recordings and shows their size. Tick it so the recordings play on the other Mac too.
Moving from the App Store version to the direct download? VidNotes Direct has Import Library from App Store Version… in the File menu, which brings your videos over in one step. Packs work for that too — and for anything you want to share with someone else.
